Basically, when you cannot differentiate between fiber optic cable and the old common cable or coaxial or RF, you may learn through this article. The differences come between these two cables regarding the technical point of view that cover it electrically and communicatively. However, these two cables have the same function that is mainly to distribute various services to end users.
Furthermore, you can find several different ways that can be used to transfer common services like television channels via cable networks. You may also find out that each of the alternatives has pros and cons. The first way is analog television, it uses ordinary antenna cable from cable system that is directed to your home to receive broadcast. This analog television needs amplifier to require signal levels. You can use coaxial or RF and fiber cables to distribute old analog cable television. With this approach you will find it easy to use available fibers in existing fiber optic cables and it also offers low cable losses.
The second one is the Digital television. In cable network, there are two different ways of distribution of this digital television. Firstly, it is an equivalent to digital broadcasting and the secondly it is used in fiber optic network IP television. Moreover, another way is through Digital Cable Broadcasting. It is similar to the analog distribution over cable, it is only using digital signal. It usually uses the technology which is also used in terrestrial broad casting but it is more efficient system that you can trust as specific properties of cable systems. Additionally, you can take as example is DBV-t system that is usually used in Europe for digital terrestrial video broadcasting with the cables use similar DBV-c system.
Lastly, it is the IP Television. As information, the IP Television is the most well known digital television distribution used with fiber optic cable system. It works by distributing TV channels with the backbone of internet communication called IP protocol. After each TV channels is encoded with MPEG – 2 or MPEG – 4 system, and then this will be distributed over fiber optical cable network to your house.
The advantage of this IP Television is remarkable. You will have more capacity for the number of channels and all the channels can be encoded and distributed with very high quality. Also, this process is really easy to distribute HD channels as well as the access throughout the internet is very simple. Thanks to the IP protocol and native technology.
